InCoB 2006 and its Objectives:

InCoB, the International Conference in Bioinformatics is a major meeting in the general area of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, and is among the first such meetings being organized in India by the Department of BioTechnology (DBT). We hope to bring together the extensive and diverse groups working in the country along with leading researchers in the area from across the world. It also includes the annual conference of the Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Network (APBioNet). This is their fifth Annual International Conference.

Previous InCoB meetings were

  1. InCoB 2002 at Bangkok, Thailand,
  2. InCoB 2003 at Penang, Malaysia,
  3. InCoB 2004 at Auckland, New Zealand
  4. InCoB 2005 at Busan, South Korea

This provides for an international forum that will present cutting-edge computational biology applications and findings on interdisciplinary research such as molecular evolution, health, agriculture, microbes and tropical diseases and on sequence and structure analysis. The main objective of the InCoB is to provide a platform for experts and budding bioinformaticians to develop and apply computational methods for solving biological varying problems and to discuss and exchange ideas and thoughts on the development of bioinformatics.

Over 1000 participants from across the globe are expected to participate in the conference including students, academicians, pharmaceutical companies and other corporates.

Themes for the Conference Sessions:

  • Computational Biology
  • Genomics and Proteomics
  • Molecular Dynamics simulations
  • Drug Design
  • Structural Bioinformatics
  • Synthetic Biology
  • Micro array analysis
  • Data Mining and databases
  • Industry Interference
  • Bioinformatics products

Conference Highlights

  • Fifteen Plenary talks that will cover the entire field, along with up to 30 invited talks by speakers who are leaders in the area. Parallel sessions to give broad coverage of the field.

  • Platform for both Academia and Industry to come together and associate themselves with the latest developments and the future trends in Computational Biology.

  • Original, refereed papers will be published in the journals BMC Bioinformatics and Journal of Biosciences (Bangalore)..

  • Poster Presentations.

  • Software Demonstration.
